It's time for Semlor!

Today is Fettisdagen (or Semmeldagen). Traditionally the Semla was eaten on Fettisdagen (literally Fat Tuesday) as a feast before the Christian fasting period of Lent. Initially the Semla was simply a bun, eaten soaked in hot milk (known as hetvägg). Nowadays, they are filled with almond paste and whipped cream and come in different sizes and variations (the latest version as a wrap). How to eat them? Try the non-fussed way and eat it straight from hand-to-mouth or the more refined way using a fork. You can buy a semla in bakeries or supermarkets. Or try baking one yourself using ToStockholm’s recipe
